So I'm wondering. Who here goes to conventions? If so, which ones to you frequent? My yearly convention normaly cosists of MegaCon (Orlando, FL) JAcon (Orlando, FL) and AFO (Orlando, FL). I didnt' get to go to AFO this year, but I am going with my friends to AWA in Atlanta, GA. in a few weeks. We were lucky enough to get an artist ally table, so we're very excited.

I'm going to AWA to! It's my first time at AWA this year but I always go to MTAC (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention) and I have been to Otakon. What is your table going to be called? I'll come by and see your art.

Oh, I suppose noone is interested in the cons here, in my country ^^ There 3 big anime and Japanese culture events here - Bonkasai, Aniventure and Aniplay. For two years I was able to go only to the last one. It's mostly for cosplayers and it's really fun to watch the little scenes they've prepared. There also some anime goodies, but just posters and cards. The real conventions where you can find artist and buy something from their tables are the first two, but it alwasy happens that I miss them Crying or Very sad

I went to Anime Iowa with my college anime club last year, and it was pretty fun! Going to panels hosted by voice actors was really interesting, and I bought piles of anime card decks in the dealers' room. Plus, the old school anime area had an arts and crafts time and I made a Black Jack shrinky dink keychain. Very Happy I'm not a cosplayer, so I think I missed out on a big part of the experience there, but it was fun to go and I wouldn't mind doing it again sometime!

I assume going to a con can be fun if you have somebody to go with. I would like to cosplay, but there are no such cons here, and I have nobody near me who would want to do the same.

I don't think I'd go in that sort of a situation, either. It was all right going with a big group, but to not have anyone to troll panels with, or to drag into the dealer's room with you, it wouldn't be as much fun. There were still times when I snuck away from the group to do stuff on my own, but it wasn't nearly the majority of the time that I spent there.

I do a convention maybe once a year depending what my family is planning. I might do two next summer. Blizzcon and Animethon in Alberta. Depends how everything goes and if I can get time off my job (or even get a job) since school is expensive.

I love cons! Mostly for the dealers room and the voice acting panels. I also love the skits and rave (though after about an hr I'm out of energy). But cons are not nearly as much fun if you go by yourself.

When I can manage tables, I go to a few conventions a year. This year I want to A-kon and San Japan. In a month I'll be going to Realms Con, and hopefully Oni Con after that. When I was younger I used to save up and attend AnimeFest, but I can't get rides there anymore, so I haven't been in forever. ^^;

Well I'll keep an eye out for you. If I had known sooner I would stitch something up for you but I'm not sure I will have the time >.<

You can also keep an eye out for a Team Aqua grunt or Sir Integra Helsing. I'll be cosplaying both of them. If there is a rave, you'll see a raved-out Aqua Grunt and a raved-out Naruto. That'll be me and my friend. XD

They might have one on Friday and Saturday but I know that they are having a formal on Friday so they could be doing both.

The trouble with "balls" is that they're usually just raves by another name. Everyone who dressed up & wore fancy masks, etc end up standing around in corners looking miffed while kids in raver gear, t-shirts, and little paper masks they put together with tape borrowed last-minute from the artist alley flail about to techno.

They are actually checking your clothing. AWA supposedly is being strict on what they are letting you wear and if they don't find it appropriate they are sending you back. I believe they do not want you to wear a mask at this one ether. And they are serving food >.<

For AWA there is a manga cross-stitching panel at 2 on friday, sad part is that is the same time Mrs. Glass is doing her VA panel. T.T I want to go to both.
