| Hello! I've never really posted a WIP anywhere before, but since this forum has an entire section for them, I thought I'd give it a try! As people who have seen my Deviant Art page or blog may have noticed, I've been doing tons of stuff from fighting games lately, particularly ones made by SNK. I've been getting sort of bored with sprite after sprite, though, so I decided to try and do a bigger project. One of SNK's characters, Athena, has been in their games since the mid-80s and, on top of having a few of her own games, gets a different outfit in every King of Fighters game. Though I'd be insane to try and stitch every incarnation of Athena, I thought I would make patterns and try and do a few of them over the years, just to look at how different the art style was from year to year, even regarding the same character over and over, which seems to be slightly less insane, though I'm sure it's not. After all that yabbering, the actual project I'm working on right now is a stitching of her from the 80s arcade game, Psycho Soldier, with the character design that appeared in promotional stuff for the game. She's really sad here, probably because she's just realized that she has an 80s anime perky girl puffy head, complete with giant chin, and it looks sort of weird with just lineart and two colored segments, especially with the ring on her finger. I finished stitching the lineart while watching Flash of Genius tonight, though, so I thought I'd shove it up here and see how that worked out. Thank you very much for taking the time to look at her! | |

| She reminds me of the old style of anime where everyone is a little bit rounder and not as pointed. Like megaman, cyborg 009, and Metropolis. I really love that you are doing her on blue fabric. I have always wanted to do a cross stitch on something besides white but I can never think of something that will look good. | |

| Thank you! I actually really like that style of anime- I've seen Metropolis more times than I should have and have DVDs of Cyborg 009 and Astro Boy, too. It was disappointing that it didn't end up taking off more than it did in the US, but that's an entirely different topic. ^^;
When I started this on blue, it was actually just because I had the blue fabric lying around and ready to use, and because I didn't see anything about the pattern that would make it look horrible on blue fabric. For the other two pieces in this set, though, I got some light green and light pink Aida cloth, so they should match pretty neatly. Now I just need to be careful to make all three of the patterns at the same size! | |

| I wish I had thought about that when making my Kairi and Sora. I made Sora 14'' and Kairi 16''. They look really weird next to each other unless I have them super unaligned. | |

| Hello again! I haven't posted a WIP of this in quite a while, but I'm getting into the home stretch and am progressively caring less and less, so I thought I'd post Athena again. If there's a picture of how close it is to being done thrown up on the internet, I feel like I'll be more likely to finish it, so here she is! I only have three colors left to work with on this, and all of them are shades of pink, so, although I like how clean the large blocks of color make it look, it's a little bit monotonous. After a few more days of stitching hundreds of pink x's, though, I'm hoping she'll be done, meaning I'll be free to do a different large project! I'm not sure if I'll do a lot of different Athena patterns anymore, but I want to stick to some sort of theme. Anyway, thank you for looking at her, even if someone at my house was dumb enough to put a cookie in the scanner before I put this in there! (Luckily, I got it all cleaned off, both from Athena and the scanner.)

| I like the shading and the colour scheme too, just the red doesn't somehow fit into the pink hair, but it is just my opinion.. >_> Anyway, keep it up, you certainly have patience, I haven't touched my works for a long time as I am totally busy playing Wonderland! XD | |

| Hello! I haven't messed with this thread for a long time, especially since I finished the last Athena (she's here, on my deviant art page http://missy-tannenbaum.deviantart.com/art/XStitch-Fanart-Late-80s-Athena-139661573), but a couple of days ago, I started my second needlework of her for the set. It's needlepoint instead of cross stitch, since I've been feeling a little off in terms of crafts lately, but because of the scale of needlepoint, she'll be about the same size as the first! The needlepoint WIP looks a bit weird, though. The holes in the plastic canvas are so big that it looks messy so far, though I'm confident it'll clean up as I go, just because that'll fill in all the holes. In case it's relevant, this is an Athena from a Neo Geo Pocket Color King of Fighters game released in the 90s, so she's a decade off from the last one. Needlepoint is pretty fast, so I hope to have her done soon, too, which is helped by the fact that Glee is on tonight, and probably more episodes of True Blood off a DVD. Nothing gets my needlework done faster than loads of TV. ^^ | |

| The new project is awesome! Looks good on that green plastic canvas too, but it will kill my eyes if I have to stitch on something with this colour! XD | |
